World Geography 1-2;    Course #4027-4028

Prerequisite: None

Through the use of lecture, reading assignments, discussion, quizzes, test, projects, composition, and map work, students will have an understanding of the world and its relations with people, places, and the environment.  The content of this course reflects both  national  and  state  geography  standards.  This two-block course satisfies the World History requirement for graduation, or can be used to satisfy the Humanities requirement(s).

Prerequisite: None

This two-block course is designed to acquaint student with history of mankind through a study of the development of selected western and eastern civilizations from their beginnings to the formation of nations and their subsequent histories.  This course will focus on the economy, social structure, government, religion, and arts of each civilization and nation studied.  Upon completion of this course, students will have an increased understanding of our cultural heritage and will also be aware of important developments in other cultures.  This course can be taken to satisfy a Humanities requirement.

 
 

U.S. History 1-2;    Course #4107-4108

Prerequisite: World Geography 1-2 or World History 1-2

This course offers an overview of the social, cultural, economic and political developments of America from the early settlement and colonial times up to the present day.  Topics covered in this class will include America’s participation in world affairs and specific major foreign events such as the world wars, social movements, internal development of this country and the problems faced from formation to present.  There will be a review of the major personalities and events that have shaped our history.

 
 

American Government 1-2;    Course #4207-4208

Prerequisite: U.S. History 1-2

This course will provide an examination of the three major branches of government:  The Executive, the Legislative, and the Judicial.  This study will examine the democratic process and its development in society today.  The role played by the individual citizen in the American political system, the basic concepts of the free enterprise system and its relationship of the consumer and government to the business cycle.
